Job Title: Product Manager

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists in defining product strategy, future product requirements and product positioning.
  • Effectively communicates and champions both internally and externally.
  • Assists in defining product strategy based on current market trends, market analysis, and customer needs.
  • Responsible for gathering data and analyzing worldwide pricing, product demand, and business analysis, including revenue, margin and market share.
  • Analyzes market trends, customer requirements and competitive strategy, and identifies opportunities for increasing customer and business value through product differentiation
  • Champions successful new product introduction. Develops and implements product launch strategy and plans, including communications plan and product launch material.
  • Provides ongoing product sales training and customer support.
  • Manages budget and financial planning for assigned product.
  • Defines and communicates product definition, forecasting, working as an integral leader on the project development team, developing and implementing product strategies
  • Defines and implements product launch plans including working with Brand Marketing in developing promotional and sales collateral.
  • Interfaces frequently with sales and field marketing to ensure understanding of customer needs, satisfaction and product acceptance; conduct product sales training. 
  • Provides a central focus for worldwide information and direction concerning the development and promotion of the product area.
  • Contributes to fiscal planning and budgeting for future positioning, growth and evolution of the product platform.
  • Extensive customer contact and approximately 10% worldwide travel will be required

Requirements: Must have ROBUST and AGGRESSIVE personality! Must take on a leadership role in this position. Has the ability to DRIVE things through the company. Commercially-minded. 

Skills/Knowledge: PhD or MSc in a scientific discipline (molecular biology, genetics or biochemistry preferred). 
Completion of an advanced degree in business (MBA) or related science is strongly desired.
Requires at least three years related experience in product management and strategic marketing. 
An understanding of biotech/life science, or pharmaceutical technologies and applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. 
Product launch and promotional experience required

Position: Technician, Level 4.

Title: Mass spectrometry technician

Centre: Centre for Blood Research University of British Columbia

Description: A Technician 4/5 position in Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry is available. The position entails managing the daily operation of a QStar MS/MS and Dth Star MALDI-TOF; of providing data preparation, analysis, peptide sequencing, and data base searches; of providing instruction in the use of the equipment to trainees; and maintaining the equipment. The position requires expertise in ICAT and iTRAQ and inline MD-LC nanoelectrospray. The position requires excellent communication.
